Legends speak of a group of priestesses that lived and shared their wisdom on the holy isle of Iona. Little is known of them, yet their presence is deeply felt.
Iona is a mystical island off the western shores of Scotland. It has been well-known amongst the mystics and saints, and yet remained hidden in mist for many years. Today, it's stepped out of the mist and is a visited each year by many people for a variety of reasons. Some visit as Christian pilgrims and others as curious tourists. And then there is the mystic. When we step upon her shores, we can sense the mysteries and greater truth that remain veiled on this small island except for those who explore deeper - asking the questions that unveil her deeper truths.
Such is the case with the Priestesses of the Ank. Little is written about them, but what we do know, is that they welcomed guests onto the shores of Iona to offer their teachings and healing. Their guests came to them first through the priestesses abilities to scry, and I can only imagine the chosen people felt their calling so strongly that they had no choice but to set sail for Iona.
During a recent online talk that I gave as a part of a monthly call series for a co-facilitated retreat, The Welllspring Retreat, I talked briefly about the priestesses and my experience encountering them during one of my visits to Iona.
